247/365 OMG Wifi In Flight

In spite of the ridiculously early wake-up (2:30 AM), I am so psyched for this weekend. My guy and our girl sit across the aisle from me. She's on Myspace, he's watching HBO comedy while psychologically steering the plane from his window seat. I'm revved up for Sunday morning, the Disneyland half marathon, walking in celebration of the extended warranty on the hubby. Even more exciting is the prospect of visiting family and friends in SoCal, starting with a Buca di Beppo feast with JS, RD, DA, and her beau, R. We'll see cousins and great aunts, with my girl spending a night with her cool cousin DG in Santa Monica. Monday is a long day home, but it is capped off with Ev's first Oklahoma rehearsal. He's back onstage with a gun, a song, and a whole symphony orchestra. An exciting three days ahead!

245/365 Teed Up

My t-shirt design is the top, his is the bottom. I guess it reflects the mixed feelings. A celebration of living, an excuse for walking! Race preparations are underway.

59/365 At Least We Have Nice Weather

Ran a 5 mile race today. Not my best time, but the leg felt great throughout the race, and I enjoy the riverfront course with its historic waterfront homes and phenomenal river views. The weather was amazing so after our race we showered, changed, grabbed lunch and headed for the beach. We enjoyed a leisurely 3 mile stroll, amused by the fearless kids in the cold water, the patient pelicans, and the gluttony of the gulls. A delightful afternoon. Florida, you enchantress, how you make me forget my worries!

10/365 + Sweating at House of Mouse

The Walt Disney World Half Marathon wasn't our fastest or our slowest, but by far it was our most memorable race. Combining two of our (many) geeky obsessions, Disney and running, made for a wonderful time, not only a VERY long morning. We left the hotel room at 3:20 AM...
I'm working on a video with more pictures, but this is one of my favorites: Evan the athlete, six miles into a race, passing in front of Cinderella's castle before throngs of well-wishers.
We're planning to enter Disney's Coast to Coast Race Challenge. If we complete the Disneyland 1/2 on September 6th there's a special medal, not to mention mad bragging rights!
