My Snuggie Bunny

Enough of this weather, I say. I'm not able to shake the chill, wearing several layers of sweaters and sweatpants under several layers of blankets when going to bed at night. The master bedroom in our house is the coldest in the winter and the warmest in the summer, being at the end of the ventilation, so lately I've been chattering and complaining. Usually the first to bed, I complain until the crew joins me. My girl doesn't usually start her night in our bed, but when it's this cold, she understands the mathematics involved in 2 times body heat under the blankets. Even with her and my husband-the-radiator I couldn't shake the chill last night, so I finally caved. We stopped and bought Snuggies this morning. It is a great invention to wrap up my cold teen during a chilly car ride to school, but when I put mine on in the afternoon I found I was tripping and dragging. It's only meant for sitting still, and that's something I rarely do when home. It's practice, laundry, fuss in the kitchen, run here and there. I'm glad we have no steps in the house. If I tried a staircase in that thing I'd likely be found at the bottom in a crumpled but warm pile. So it occurred to me. The freaking thing is less practical than a bathrobe. A simple, fleece bathrobe would "snug" and it would allow me to move too. I'm such a sucker for advertising.

322/365 Ugh

Waiting for my flight from PDX to SEA, after a 6 hours of presenting I have NO voice. Is it a bird? Is it a pig? Is it the 153 germ-laden sixth graders? Whatever it is, I feel like death on a saltine. Red-eye flight tomorrow. Concerts this weekend... I love my busy life, but I have no time to feel poopy!

320/265 In the A.M.

Home from rehearsal just after 10, I headed straight for bed. So technically I didn't make it to the machine in time for my daily post, but I was pretty sure I could make up for it sometime in the wee hours. Sure enough, here I sit, alone in a quiet house. Hansel followed me as I left the bed and headed for our "office," but he's looking at me like I am crazy. Maybe it's the Sudafed I've been snarfing in attempt to stay one step ahead of the sinus explosion. I've purchased and ingested enough pseudophedrine to make the meth lab operators worry about raw materials. The head is starting to clear, and I may even have a reliable singing voice back by Friday's Chorale concerts, but my pillow is lonely. And this week's journey to the Pacific Northwest, with its time change and red-eye flight aren't likely to make the sleep situation any better. Three chimes of the grandfather clock in the dining room as I put the finishing touches on this back-dated post.

50/365 Comforted by Comfort Food

30 degrees and windy in Towson, Maryland. I haven't slept at all on the road this week and I need something good. Enter the Towson Diner. Split pea soup, steak fries and a chef's salad. Yes, bring the bread basket. So what if I'm training for a race. I need happy food.

37/365 Enough Already!

The third straight night of a hard freeze. Floridians should NOT have to scrape ice off windshields in the morning.

36/365 A Blanket of Flowers

Now that my snapdragons are nice and cozy I think I may have to move to the equator. Florida is too cold.
