and it cools things. The ondenser, covered under warranty, was just fine. Condenser fan, burned out. $40 part. The other charges were for labor, including $89 for a home visit. Next time I'll bring it in, I guess. Argh!

As for the contents? Trash. Today, 4 3/4 years after we bought it new, it decided that cold was no longer an option. Incredibly, when we called the help line at 9 P.M. the Maytag Man answered! Warranty expires after 5 years!
